Sa’aadah, Fanny Lestari. 2023. The Utilization of Tiktok Account
@Freethinking English as Online Media for Writing
Skill (at the Tenth Grade Students of SMK PGRI 2
Ponorogo). Thesis, English Eduction Department,
Tarbiyah Faculty, State Institute for Islamic Studies of
Ponorogo. Advisor Dr. Tintin Susilowati, M.Pd.
Key words : Media For Learning, Writing Skill, Social Media Tiktok.
The trend of new era and innovation will continue to occur and develop
along with the development of the times, this matter will inevitably to
influence the world of education, the biggest changes include : easiser to find
learning resources, many choices in utilaizing ICT, increasing role of media
and multimedia in learning activities, learning time is more flexible, the use of
e- learning based learning. teachers should prepare a good learning models
and learning technique it make the students will be curious and interest to
study English, especially in writing skills. Writing is also a productive skill to
which careful attention must be paid, and teacing such skills really needs
special trainingin order to make the learning process effective.
The objectives of this study are to (1) describe how the students utilize
TikTok account @freethingking English as online media for supporting
reference in writing skill; (2) describe what the benefits of TikTok account
@freethingking English as online media for students in writing skill.
This study was designed using qualitative methods with a
descriptive research Data collection is collected through observation,
interviews, and documentation. Participation came from students tenth grade
of SMK PGRI 2. Fordata analysis using data reducation, data display, and data
verification.
Based on the data analysis found that (1) there are several ways that
students can use tiktok as an additional medium in learning english, especially
in writing skills in english. These methods are, namely : by entering hastags
into the search field in the TikTok account, Hashtags on TikTok help
categorize content and make it more searchable for users, by entering
keywords if we type certain keywords in the TikTok search field, we will find
some content that is relevant to these keywords This can make it easier to
reach TikTok users who have the potential to need certain content or videos,
the last is do exercises through vidios on tiktok; (2) Using tiktok as an
additional application that is effective and with clear instructions will make it
easier for students to access and practice writing skills. These methods can
provide effective benefits for students in learning English. Especially in
writing skills material, can provide several benefits for students in the process
of learning English, especially in this writing material, namely vocabulary
mastery,
structure
text,
tenses.
