Movie is one of the media that becomes major sources of entertainment, education, and knowledge. As the media, movie is a good solution of troubles and problems in learning because it consists of interesting audio and visuals so it doesn't make students easily bored. By watching a movie, the researcher can get many things, especially educational values. Educational value is about people’s belief in good or bad conduct.
The researcher use KEMENDIKNAS’s formulation to analyze character educational values in the script of movie Moana. The purposes of doing this research to find out the types of character educational values found in the Moana movie and the dominant types of educational value in Moana Movie.
In this research the researcher used library research by approaching descriptive qualitative method and content analysis to analyze the data. The data of this research are educational values in the script dialogue uttered by the characters and their gestures shown in the movie. The data source in this research are a movie entitled Moana, many books, and relevant materials. The researcher used documentary technique to collect the data.
The result shows that there are 15 educational values appeared, these are religious, independently, hard working, creativity, curiousity, patriotism, appreciating achievement, sociality, love peace, national spirit, responsibility, hospitality, honesty, tolerance and environmental care. In the other hand, 5 educational values are not appeared in this movie. These are fondness of reading, democratic, discipline. The most dominant of educational values in Moana movie is patriotism.
