Writing is a specific ability which helps writers to put their thoughts into words in a meaningful form and to mentally interact with the message. Writing is a process of formulating and organizing ideas in right words to deliver the aim and present them on a piece of paper. The objective of this research was to find out the significant difference on students’ writing achievement before and after being taught using sequence pictures at the eighth grade of MTs YP KH Syamsuddin Durisawo Ponorogo in academic year 2019/2020.
The researcher applied a quantitative approach and used a pre-experimental design. In this research, the researcher used one class. The population was the eighth graders of MTs YP KH Syamsuddin. The sample was 25 students from VIII D class. The data were gathered through test. The research was conducted by the following procedures: giving pre-test, applying the treatment, and giving post-test.
After getting the score of the test, the data were analyzed and processed by using the T-test formula by using SPSS. the value of t-test = 12,497 was consulted with 5% significant level with df 24, that is 2,06 (t test > t table). So, Ha is accepted.
Overall, there is significant difference on students’ achievement before and after being taught by using sequence picture in writing procedure text at the eighth graders of MTs YP KH Syamsuddin Durisawo Ponorogo in academic year 2019/2020. It becomes important for the teachers to increase and to develop their ability in teaching. The teacher should be able to use the appropriate media in teaching English.
