Abstract
This research was motivated by the large number of students at the Darussalam Bangunsari Islamic Boarding School who did not understand the nahwu shorof when they were ordered to read the book, which made the educators' explanations when presenting the material on the Book of Fatḥul Qarīb less than optimal. Judging from the problem conditions above, the Bangunsari Islamic Boarding School uses the syawir method as a solution to increase students' understanding of the Book of Fatḥul Qarīb.
This research aims (1) to find out how the syawir method is implemented in improving the understanding of the Book of Fatḥul Qarīb for the students of the Darussalam Bangunsari Ponorogo Islamic Boarding School; (2) To find out the supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of the syawir method in increasing the understanding of the Book of Fatḥul Qarīb for students at the Darussalam Bangunsari Ponorogo Islamic Boarding School; (3) To find out the implications of the syawir method in increasing the understanding of the Book of Fatḥul Qarīb for students at the Darussalam Bangunsari Ponorogo Islamic Boarding School.
This research is field research using an approachqualitative descriptive. Meanwhile, data collection uses observation, interviews and documentation methods. The data sources in the research came from caregivers, administrators, students and activities at the Darussalam Bangunsari Ponorogo Islamic boarding school. Then the technique for data analysis is using the Miles, Huberman and Saldana model analysis with the steps: data condensation, data display, and drawing conclusions (conclusion drawing/verification).
Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that (1) Syawir activities at the Darussalam Bangunsari Ponorogo Islamic Boarding School involved moderators, chapter readers, translation readers, note takers, rois, and mushohih. The moderator directs the discussion, the reader and translator read and translate the chapter, the minutes record the results of the discussion, the rois answers questions and provides direction, and the mushohih provides tashih of truth. (2) The supporting factors, namely good human resources, enthusiastic students, adequate facilities, and support from the Islamic boarding school help its success. The inhibiting factors are lack of self-confidence, concentration, literacy, limited references, and lack of guidance from syawir officers. (3) The implications of syawir activities make students understand more deeply the contents of the Fatḥul Qarīb Book and many new references. By actively participating in syawir activities, students can better understand the Book of Fatḥul Qarīb and the problems that occur in society, increase their self-confidence, and improve students' academic performance in the classroom.
