This research is motivated by the serious issue of the student character crisis which
includes a decline in morals and morals as well as an understanding of the importance of
developing student character in junior high schools in Madiun Regency, which includes
extracurricular activities, teacher behavior and independent learning as factors that have the
potential to influence student character development.
This research aims to determine, identify and assess whether there is a partial positive
and significant influence of extracurricular activities, teacher behavior and independent
learning on student character in junior high school students in Madiun Regency.
This type of research is quantitative causal, with the population being junior high school
students in Madiun Regency and the number of samples taken was 142 students spread across
several junior high schools in Madiun Regency which was determined using proportional
random sampling techniques. Data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using
SEM – PLS using the SmartPLS 3.2.9 tool.
The results of this research show that extracurricular activities have a positive and
significant influence on the character of junior high school students in Madiun Regency with a
path coefficient of 0.289, t-value 2.800, and p-value 0.042. Then, teacher behavior has a
positive and significant effect on the character of junior high school students in Madiun
Regency with a path coefficient of 0.388, t-value 4.588, and p-value 0.004. Independent
learning has the strongest and most significant influence on the character of junior high school
students in Madiun Regency with a path coefficient of 0.845, t-value 9.035, and p-value 0.000.
And finally, the Independent Learning Approach with additional support from the role of
Extracurricular Activities and Teacher Behavior has a significant influence on the formation of
student character.
