Pendidikan memiliki peranan penting dalam menanamkan, mentransformasikan, dan menumbuh kembangkan karakter positif siswa salah satunya yakni karakter religius. Pendidikan karakter religius juga sangat dibutuhkan oleh siswa berkebutuhan khusus agar nantinya mereka memiliki kepribadian dan perilaku sesuai dengan norma-norma agama, dapat hidup berdampingan dengan masyarakat serta mampu mencapai kehidupan yang bahagia di dunia dan akhirat. Di SMPLB-B Pertiwi Ponorogo sendiri dalam menanamkan karakter religius siswa berkebutuhan khusus terdapat peran penting guru PAI. Yang mana pada penelitian ini dibatasi hanya akan membahas mengenai peran guru PAI sebagai pembimbing, sebagai model dan sebagai motivator.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) Peran guru PAI sebagai pembimbing dalam menanamkan karakter religius siswa berkebutuhan khusus di SMPLB-B Pertiwi Ponorogo; (2) Peran guru PAI sebagai model dalam menanamkan karakter religius siswa berkebutuhan khusus di SMPLB-B Pertiwi Ponorogo; dan (3) Peran guru PAI sebagai motivator dalam menanamkan karakter religius siswa berkebutuhan khusus di SMPLB-B Pertiwi Ponorogo.
Adapun penelitian ini dirancang menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui wawancara terstruktur, observasi dan dokumentasi. Dimana narasumbernya berasal dari Kepala Sekolah, Guru PAI bagian kesiswaan dan siswa berkebutuhan khusus di SMPLB-B Pertiwi Ponorogo. Data hasil penelitian kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model analisa Miles, Huberman dan Saldana meliputi kondensasi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi.
Berdasarkan hasil analisis data ditemukan bahwa Guru PAI memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam menanamkan karakter religius Siddiq, Fatonah, Amanah dan Tabligh pada siswa berkebutuhan khusus di SMPLB-B Pertiwi Ponorogo. Peran tersebut yakni 1) Sebagai Pembimbing guru PAI mengajar di dalam kelas dan mendampingi dalam prakter ibadah dengan penuh kasih sayang, sabar dan telaten mengulang-ulang materi, menyampaikan materi dengan metode Tarikh/ kisah, mengadakan ekstrakurikuler keagamaan dan kegiatan pembiasaan religius, menjalin komunikasi yang baik dengan wali murid terkait penilaian dan perbaikan karakter religius siswa. 2). Sebagai Model guru PAI berperilaku religius Siddiq, Fatonah, Amanah dan Tabligh di sekolah, berusaha akrab dan mempengaruhi siswa agar percaya dan menjadikan guru PAI sebagai teladan. 3). Sebaagi Motivator guru PAI mengingatkan siswa untuk selalu bersyukur ingat dan taat kepada Allah SWT, mengaitkan tujuan belajar dengan ajaran agama Islam, memberikan pujian dan hadiah kecil agar siswa semakin semangat belajar, mengadakan grup kerjasama antar siswa seperti diskusi, kerjabakti dan penggalangan dana serta mengadakakan persaingan antar siswa yakni lomba keagamaan dan kuis.

Education has an important role in instilling, transforming and developing positive character in students, one of which is religious character. Religious character education is also really needed by students with special needs so that later they will have personalities and behavior in accordance with religious norms, can live side by side with society and be able to achieve a happy life in this world and the hereafter. At SMPLB-B Pertiwi Ponorogo itself, in instilling the religious character of students with special needs, there is an important role for PAI teachers. This research is limited to only discussing the role of PAI teachers as mentors, as models and as motivators.
This research aims to describe (1) the role of PAI teachers as mentors in instilling religious character in students with special needs at SMPLB-B Pertiwi Ponorogo; (2) The role of PAI teachers as models in instilling religious character in students with special needs at SMPLB-B Pertiwi Ponorogo; and (3) The role of PAI teachers as motivators in instilling religious character in students with special needs at SMPLB-B Pertiwi Ponorogo.
This research was designed using descriptive qualitative methods. Data collection was carried out through structured interviews, observation and documentation. Where the resource persons came from the Principal, PAI Teachers for Student Affairs and students with special needs at SMPLB-B Pertiwi Ponorogo. The research data was then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman and Saldana analysis model including data condensation, data presentation and drawing conclusions or verification.
Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that PAI teachers have a very important role in instilling the religious character of Siddiq, Fatonah, Amanah and Tabligh in students with special needs at SMPLB-B Pertiwi Ponorogo. These roles are 1) As a PAI teacher guide, teaching in the classroom and assisting in the practice of worship with great affection, patience and painstaking repetition of material, delivering material using the date/story method, holding religious extracurriculars and religious habituation activities, establishing good communication. both with the student's parents regarding the assessment and improvement of the student's religious character. 2). As a model for PAI teachers to behave religiously, Siddiq, Fatonah, Amanah and Tabligh at school, try to be familiar with and influence students to believe in them and make PAI teachers role models. 3). As a motivator, PAI teachers remind students to always be grateful, remember and obey Allah SWT, relate learning goals to the teachings of the Islamic religion, give praise and small prizes so that students are more enthusiastic about learning, hold collaborative groups between students such as discussions, community service and fundraising and hold competitions. between students, namely religious competitions and quizzes.
