Abstract

This research is motivated by attitude of tolerance at the Wali SongoNgabar Ponorogo Islamic Boarding School which is not good. This is marked by students who often site with their consulate and ignore other consulates. The potential for intolerance needs to be eliminated so that it does not become wider. Multicultural education and the values in it are the ways taken by the Wali Songo Ngabar Ponorogo Islamic Boarding School in increasing tolerance.

The objectives of this study are: (1) interpret the boarding school policy in increasing tolerance at the Wali Songo Ngabar Ponorogo Islamic Boarding School, (2) interpret the stages of intermalization of multicultural education values in increasing tolerance at the Wali Songo Ngabar Ponorogo Islamic Boarding School; (3) describe the implications of internalizing muticultural education values on the culture of tolerance at the Wali Songo Ngabar Ponorogo Islamic Boarding School.

This research uses a qualitative approach and case study research type. Using data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observation, and documentation. The interactive model data analysis technique proposed by Milles Huberman, and Saldana with four stages of data analysis, namely data collection, data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.

In this study there are 3 findings, (1) the policy of the Pondok Pesantren Wali Songo Ngabar Ponorogo in increasing tolerance is contained in the form of a hidden curriculum. This is found in the Charter of the Waqf Pledge number 8 of 1980 concerning the Direction and Objectives of Education and Teaching at the Wali Songo Ngabar Ponorogo Islamic Boarding School (2) There are three stages of internalization of multicultural education values to increase tolerance namely the value transformation stage through the lecture learning method, the value transaction stage through the group discussion learning method, the joyfull learning model, PAIKEM learning model, the introduction, and assimilation of culture, and the value internalization stage, namely moderate Islam, (3) The implication of the internalization of multicultural education values towards a culture of students have a broad, open, and tolerant perspective, this is evidenced by the fact that students are able to appreciate, respect, and accept differences between one another.
