Abstract

Student centered learning is a learning approach that places students as the main actors and teachers as facilitators in learning activities. In its application, this learning system brings various views from students. Students' views can be used as a benchmark for the success of a learning approach.
This research aims to explain or provide information about the implementation of the Student Centered learning approach in English learning and student perception in learning English by the implementation of Student Centered . This study offers informative data as a reference source in implementing Student Centered Approach.
This research used qualitative descriptive to describe a phenomenon and its characteristics. Data collection methods used observation, interviews, and documentation. The data was then analyzed through the stages data reduction, data display, and conclusions. The research would be carried out in eleventh grade class of MAN 2 Ponorogo.
The findings state that the implementation of Student Centered Learning is very urgent in order to help improve student ability to understand material in depth in order to achieve student learning success. The successful implementation of Student Centered Learning has supporting factors. The supporting factors include teacher competency, student quality, and very adequate infrastructure. Students are able to think critically through an independent learning system and are able to increase students ability to interact with each other. It can be concluded that the implementation of student centered learning brings positive responses from MAN 2 Ponorogo students. By implementing Student Centered Learning, students become more motivated in learning and enrich themselves in the scientific field through an independent learning system.
