Abstract

Reading is beneficial and important for language learning. It assists building the social-emotional skills for students. Some of students, the reading section is boring because of its too long story. The researcher coped the boring with the roundtable technique. The roundtable technique ensures fair engagement among team members and exposes students to a wide range of ideas.
The primary goal of this study is to perceive the effectiveness of roundtable technique students’ reading achievement at the tenth grade of MAN 4 Jombang. The problem of this study is a significant distinguish on reading achievement between students’ who are taught using roundtable technique or not.
This research used the quantitative approach with quasi-experimental approach in the type of research. the population for this research is 68 students where the number of samples were 31 students of experimental class and 37 students of control class. The data collection technique were test and documentation. To analyze data, the researcher applied independent t-test formula to perceive there was significant distinguish students’ reading achievement using roundtable technique and not using roundtable technique.
After taking the data, the researcher applied the independent t-test formula by using SPSS 25 version. The result of this research shown that the value of t-test with the significance of two-tailed was 0.001 while in post-test was 0.000. It means that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. Thus, there was a significant distinguish between reading achievement with roundtable technique at tenth grade of MAN 4 Jombang.
