Abstract

Language skills involve four distinct sub-skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The practical implementation of teaching methods or techniques for language skill acquisition warrants careful consideration. One of the critical areas of instruction is the teaching of reading, as it significantly impacts the development of reading comprehension, a crucial component of overall reading proficiency. Pomodoro technique focuses on a time management strategy that can be employed to enhance learning outcomes. This technique incorporates rest periods into study sessions to prevent boredom and improve reading comprehension. Its efficacy has become particularly relevant in the post of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has led to a decline in learning and reading habits among students. Implementing Pomodoro technique can potentially enhance students' reading comprehension. This study examines how well Pomodoro technique works at MA AlIslam Joresan Ponorogo to enhance pupils' reading comprehension after the Covid-19 Pandemic. The population taken was 81 eleventh-grade students of IPA at MA Al-Islam Joresan Ponorogo. The number of the sample in this research was 44 students. The sampling technique used random sampling. The procedure of data collection was testing and documentation. This research applied a quantitative approach and used the quasi-experimental research design. The result showed that the experimental class had a higher mean score in the post-test than the control class. The mean post-test score in the experimental class was 97,857, while the control class was 67,609. Based on those results, it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Thus using Pomodoro technique effectively enhances reading comprehension to eleventh-grade students of MA Al-Islam Joresan Ponorogo in the academic year 2022/2023.
