Abstract

Mtsn 1 Ponorogo is one of the madrasas in Ponorogo which has implemented Merdeka curriculum as a learning curriculum for seventh grade. As is well known, this Merdeka curriculum is the newest curriculum launched by the Minister of Education, Nadiem Makarim. One of the policies contained in this independent curriculum is the existence of intra-curricular learning and projects to strengthen the profile of Pancasila and Rahmatan Lilalamin students (P5RA). As a new policy, it certainly raises a perspective from various parties including from teachers.
This study aims to find out: 1) how is the implementation of intra-curricular learning and projects to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students and Rahmatan Lilalamin students (P5RA) for English learning at MTsN 1 Ponorogo, 2) what is the teacher's perspective regarding intra-curricular learning and projects to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students and Rahmatan Lilalamin students ( P5RA) for English learning at MTsN 1 Ponorogo, and 3) what problems are faced by English teachers in implementing the Merdeka curriculum and what are the alternative solutions.
This research was designed in the form of qualitative research using the case study method and took the research location at MTsN 1 Ponorogo. In this case, the data collection methods used are interviews, observation, and documentation. As for the data analysis techniques used are content analysis and thematic analysis.
The results of the research can be found: first, the implementation of English intra-curricular learning includes three stages, namely planning, implementation and assessment. In its own implementation what educators must prepare are teaching modules and teaching materials. whereas in the implementation of the P5RA project it includes initiation, development and conclusion and what educators must prepare is the project module as the flow of project implementation. Second, regarding the English teacher's perspective on the implementation of English intra-curricular learning and the P5RA project, the teachers agree with this curriculum because it gives teachers freedom in teaching and provides innovation in learning activities. Third, the problems faced by teachers include difficulties in understanding the development of teaching modules and project modules. To overcome this, schools hold workshops for teachers. In addition, the problem faced is the prohibition of using mobile phones for students as a support for the implementation of learning activities and to overcome this it is hoped that educators will be able to optimize the use of computer laboratories as learning facilities. The last, problem faced by teacher is the lack of funds in implementing the P5RA project and to overcome this, educators are budgeting more for schools so that they can expedite P5RA activities properly.
