Abstract

Vocabulary is an important component that must be acquired in language learning, the main thing discussed in this research is English. Without vocabulary, students are have difficulty constructing sentences and starting a communication. That is why this study uses a word wall strategy as an effort to improve students vocabulary mastery. Word wall strategy is one of the vocabulary teaching techniques to make it easier for students to remember and understand vocabulary.
The aim of this research is to find out a significant difference between the vocabulary masteryof the students who are taught by word wall strategy and those who are not taught by word wall strategy at MTSS YP KH SYAMSUDDIN Ponorogo in academic year 2021/2022.
This research was conducted with a quantitative approach and applied a quasi-experimental design. There are two classes used as research samples, namely class VII E (36) as the experimental group and class VII G (34) as the control group. The population was taken from the seventh grade students of MTSS YP KH SYAMSUDDIN Ponorogo for the 2021/2022 academic year. Data were gained by conducting test both in experimental and control class. A T-test was calculated using SPSS 18 to find out whether there was a significant between two classes.
The sum-squared deviation of experimental class was 13.56361 and in control class was 13.18293. Therefore, the deviation of experimental class is higher than control class. There was significant difference between the mean score of two classes. In conclusion, word wall media was effective to use in teaching vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade MTSS YP KH Syamsuddin.
