Reading is an activity to obtain information and understand written texts. This means that reading is a process where people add further information and ideas from a text, such as books, newspapers, and letters. There are many ways to comprehend some English text. However, in the fact, many students whose still felt slack to reading English text, especially narrative text. It is caused by their reading ability lower and many new vocabularies which make them feel bored to reading. In this research, the researcher uses Story Mapping Method on Students Narrative Reading Achievement.
The objective of the study is to find out the significant different between students` narrative reading achievement who are taught by using story mapping and those who are not at MTs Miftahul Ulum. The population was taken from the Eighth Grade Students of MTs Miftahul Ulum Kradinan Dolopo in Academic Year 2020/2021.
This research applied quantitative approach and used the quasi-experimental design. This research, used two classes as experimental class and control class. The population of this research is 46 students, and the number of sample in this research were 23 students of experimental class and 23 students of control class. The technique of data collection were test. To analize the data, the researcher used t-test formula to know whether there was significant difference between students’ narrative reading achievement who are taught by using story mapping and those who are not.
The result of the research shows that the value of t-test is 8.932. The result compulation using t-test formula of 5% significantion level is 2,00. It means that 8.932 >2,00, so that Ha is accepted and Ho rejected. it can be concluded that there was a significant difference in students’ achievement in narrative reading for the students those are taught by using the story mapping method and those who are not taught by using it.
