Abstract

A textbook is a set of instructional materials that contains of content and material that plays an important role in teaching and learning process. Selecting a material for the students has a big influence on the success of teaching. Numerous textbook evaluations have been done to find the most suitable textbook for English language teaching learning. This research was aimed to find does the English textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris for tenth grade of senior high school the 2017 edition meet the criteria of good textbook proposed by Montasser Mohamed AbdelWahab.
The objective of this research was to explain the criteria of physical and utilitarian attributes, efficient outlay of objectives and supplementary materials, learning and teaching contents, and language skills determined by Montasser Mohamed AbdelWahab in the textbook entitled “Bahasa Inggris” (Ed. 2017) for Tenth Grade Senior High School published by Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia.
This research was categorized as a textbook analysis study in the form of descriptive qualitative research, the data were gathered by analyzing the textbook using the checklist. In the data analysis technique, the total score obtained multiplied by the total number of criteria. Then, it is multiplied by 100% to achieve the sum point
The results of this study showed that the English textbook “Bahasa Inggris” (Ed. 2017) for Tenth Grade Senior High School has fulfilled of a good textbook by achieving the sum point of 94,6% classified as “good”, with coverage 94% for the aspects of physical and utilitarian attributes, 87% for the aspects of efficient outlay of objectives and supplementary materials, 98% for the aspects of learning and teaching contents, and 97% for the aspects of language skills.
