Hello English application has rapidly increasing among the user of second language learning, it help most of people enhance their specific English language skills. This application itself has been proven in having a lot features to facilitate learners. Interactive lessons, interactive games, discussion with teacher, practicing using daily news and videos, conversation and speaking practice game, dictionary and few more feature on the mobile application to build learner abilities. Hello English application had won many awards as best mobile application, most innovative application, Google editor’s choice, Google best application in 2016 and Asia’s largest English learning platform. More fascinating, this application has over than 50 million user in around the world. The goal of this research is to answer people curiosity about Hello English application in speaking term. Hello English application provide 475 interactive lesson which contains a lot of subject in learning English such learning about how to ask and give a name, discuss or describe or explaining something, talk about salary, talk about make a decision and a lot of theme inside the lessons. Researcher wants to be specific in speaking areas in lessons and practice of conversation. The aim of this research is to find the kind of speaking consists in Hello English application and the conversation practice games integrate and suitable with productive skill
This research apply qualitative research as general in research method procedure, in specific term researcher use descriptive analysis and content analysis to find out current speaking and conversation that can be found in Hello English application. Before choosing Hello English application, researcher do a lot of observe to find most appropriate application on the mobile phone that had a lot advantage for the user. For collecting the data in this research, researcher use documentation, and for analyzing use transcription and coding and arrange it into table form to make it easier in categorizing. In content analyzing, researcher use Gail Jefferson transcription system that contain at least 15 different mark to sign and indicate the sounds, pitch, and vowel in conversation practice on this application.
Researcher finds a lot of interactive lessons and games related to the speaking part. In order to find the kind of speaking, researcher needs for narrowed down all the lessons and categorize into several term and code it based on its number of phases. On the lesson part are divide into different 9 categories there are; 1) greeting or introduction, 2) as or giving something,3) hobby or favorite things, 4) talk or express something, 5) describing, explaining or discussion, 6) place, 7) work, 8) animal and 9) other, in total there 47 lesson related to the speaking skill. Beside on the conversation practice, researcher needs special method to analyze and transcribing the dialog. The conversation practice itself is free to use and employ ABAB sequence to build the dialog between user and virtual person. Moreover, researcher use Gail Jefferson transcription system to unravel the conversation practice dealing with bad or good pronunciation. The Hello English application corrected directly the false pronounce of spoken sentence in conversation practice games, the false pronounce will be showed in red color and the point should be less than 100%, even though the conversation practice games could be replayed to correct bad score from previous result. By using Gail Jefferson transcription system, researcher tend to use all the signs and analyze in every spoken sentence. Then, researcher expect that Hello English application will become supporting tool in English learning especially in speaking term. The useful and interactive application can be more fascinated for learners to install it on the smartphone for individual learners
