The objective of this research was to examine whether there is a significant effect of SQ3R Strategies on students’ Reading Comprehension at the eight-grade of SMP Ma’arif 1 Ponorogo in Academic Year 2019/2020. This research applied quantitative approach and used the quasi experimental design. This research, used two clasess as experimental group and control group. The population were taken from the Eight Grade Students of SMP Ma’arif 1 Ponorogo in Academic Year 2019/2020. The population of this research is 131 students, and the number of sample in this research were 54 students of experimental group and 54 students of control group.
The technique of data collection were test and documentation. To analize the data, researcher used t-test formula to know whether there was significant different on students’ reading narrative skill who are taught by SQ3R Strategies and students who aren’t taught by SQ3R Strategies.
The result of the research shows that the value of ttest is 13.851. The result computation using ttestformula of 5% signification level is 2,00. It means that 13,851 > 2,00, so that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected.
So, from the computation above it can be concluded that there is a significant different betweet students who are taught by using SQ3R Strategies and students who aren’t taught by using SQ3R Strategies at the Eight Grade Students of SMP Ma’arif 1 Ponorogo in Academic Year 2019/2020. It is become important for the teachers to increase and to develop their ability in teaching.
